ok so im having a small issue with my temperature gauge when i start from a cold state as in left off overnight my temp gauge starts at 230-240 when i turn the key and even higher when i start it up and it passes 260 about 2 minutes after i changed my thermostat because the first time it happened i pulled over and got it towed but it wasnt the problem i also changed i have considered changing the temperature sensors but if i disconnect them there is no change as well as if i apply resistance or short them it still does the same thing

i know i ask a lot of questions but i try to do my research before hand and when i cant find anything i post a new thread

Get a mech gauge and confirm the actual temp.

 

the problem isnt that its over heating it is the gauge it self is there a way to test the leads going to gauge and or the gauge it's self
