Default My suspension is terrible

When I drive over a rough road it feels like I'm driving down railroad tracks. I can feel every bump and it's a loud rattling ride. If I go down the same road in other vehicles it's tad bumpy but no where near the jarring experience it is in my Jeep. It's 20 years old and has a quarter million miles on it so I'm sure the springs are trashed and the shocks have a lot of milage on them too.

My question is... Will changing just the springs and shocks be enough or are other components probably messed as well?

You can start there and see how it feels. Your tires may be to blame a bit too. A higher load rating makes for a stiffer ride.

Tire pressure makes a difference too. It'll never ride like a passenger car with the straight axles though. One of the trade-offs for decent offroad performance.
