My stock jeep
I am 17 and trying to figure out something cheap but practical to buy for my 2000 xj. It is stock, I have been doing some mudding lately but I feel like I could do so much more with the proper materials. Help?

Well like what?
Lift?
Engine upgrades?
Racks/bumpers?
Junk yard upgrades?
What do YOU want to get out of your xj?

Ok, so I flipped my last car so over a 3' lift may be too much for me. Something cheap to get my jeep more off road efficient, safe and again somewhat cheap under 350 I suppose. I am new to this so dont get frustrated haha

Like me. I made my own rack. I use it all the time. And then I put lights on it and I use it at least once a week. Lol
But mines a daily driver with the once and a wile construction zone off-roading Hahaha jk but for me I'm only doing a cheap 2in with not cheep tires. Also I've been doin some mods to beef up my I6 and drive train and steering components
Hahah just some food for thought

Ride hard. Pay hard. Tires would be the first "cheap" (if you can call it that) upgrade. Are you talking jumping offroading or just driving on gravel paths?

Do general maintenance procedures on things that wear out after ten years... Like u-joints, diff fluids, bearings, ball joints, whatever. That'll eat up your $350 real quick, but it will be mechanically sound.

after all maintenance. i would put a 2 inch lift and some mud terrain tires. the 2 inch lift though would eat up most your cash. 150$

I'd get around the thing and change all the fluids (be careful of the oil pressure sender tho! ) and filters that you can find. Then start on your brakes, u joints, spark plugs and of course, tyres.
It's boring, but sadly life is like that - you gotta do the boring stuff before you get to have fun. Also, a 2" lift only looks cool if you're not stranded.
oh, and while you're underneath your Jeep have a poke around looking for rust so you decide if this Jeep really is a keeper that you want to put aftermarket gear on.
