My new Dana-44
I just installed my new/used Dana-44. Found it at a pick & pull under an 87 XJ sitting on its frame in the mud. $125 for the axle and another $120 for new brake shoes & springs, wheel bearings, oil seals, gasket and fluid. It only took about 4 hours to install. Currently it only has 3.55’s but some day……..
Old D-35
New D-44
Now I have this boat anchor to get rid of. If you want it, check the dana-35 on the Denver Craigslist

Do you hear banjos?
That's sweet! I had an XJ with a D35 and 33s, and it was always in the back of my mind that I was pushing it! I have a D44 w/ a locker now and it is kinda nice to not have to worry about my axle (as much)!! Nice work man!!

Both my 87's came with it stock. All the xj's i have seen from 87 had stock 44 under it. I am sure some did not but 87 seems to be the best year for a chance at the 44 only 250,000 xj's sold that year so good luck lol
