Hey guys, New here.

So what I'm dealing with is an 87 cherokee, 4.0, aw4 4" lift on 32s. thing was hammered on in a past life. had a leaf spring busted through the floor, was missing a hatch, had no interior pieces whatsoever minus gauges and the top half of the dash. i got it together and drove it onto a trailer just fine in 4 lo. since then it's gotten the 32s the bottom dash trim piece the hatch and the lift out of a spare 96, seats from a 95 and a roof rack. finally got it to roll out of the garage and start driving it around in the yard and the transmission starts popping out of gear. from what the onlookers said the driveshaft was lurching and spinning weird every time it happened. it'll start up, shift fine, start driving and then pop slam and grink, making this awful whining noise like the edges of gears are spinning against each other but not catching. i was told it might be the transfer case linkage, but it's cold here in Ma right now and the bottom of the Jeep is coated in a thick layer of mud so i have yet to clean it out and look. also it was shifting into 4x4 before, but now the lever moves and it sounds like it clunks but it doesn't seem to go in, and the light doesn't turn on. any help possible is greatly appreciated!
