wont stay stay on

Engine: 4.0 h.o I6 242 cid
i have a 1996 xj 4.0ho and when i start it up it turns right on but if i dnt accelerate a bit it will die on its own...bought the jeep after the person who i had it stopped for like a year cuz of title issues...ran fine to my home ...two months later after getting all the title work corrected wont stay on on its own...
