hose are Perfect! Whatever it is, the water is pouring out faster than you can dump it in, with the motor off! It's running straight through! If ain't ever seen someone cry over a car I did tonite because as soon as everythig falls into place for me to start my mods something happens!

Mine is right above the dipstick with the purple vacuum line going into it. I have a Renix with the updated cooling system, so mine is for a 1992, I forgot what year tour XJ is. If this plastic thing broke then it will **** fluid all over the place. I hope that this is what it is!! Later, keep us posted buddy!!

The freeze plug is behind the flywheel/flexplate and the motor has to come out to get to that plug. Sry alien. Had that happen to me on a 76 Dodge PowerWagon with a 360. It makes you feel helpless because you really are.

This sounds familiar... but is there also a plug on the rear of the head?

Reason i ask.... he OP stated he can see coolant running down the pass side under the head. The coolant would come out the bottom of bellhousing if it's leaking behind it.

I have a spare engine in garage... i'll pull the cover and take a look in the morning.

Overland you have a chance to snap a pic of that head mounted freeze plug? The reason I ask is I don't remember seeing one there. I have been known (by my wife) to have a faulty memory so I would love to see a pic.

Please look I'm a hour away from my Jeep and ain't got a way to it till this weekend.

Blue, If it was behind the flex plate, it would be pouring out of the bell housing. but I can see it runnig down the block just this side of where the tranny and motor meet!
