hello i had no power running to my fuel pump relay so i built my my own circuit with inline fuse and new relay, so ive got power running to my pump now but when i turn the key its like ive got a vacuum leak and if i pump the gas repeatedly i can get it to run and then on its own for a few seconds then it dies. AM I MISSING ANYTHING

Sounds exactly like what mine did...until I put a new pump in.
BTW, I don't think you can read power to the relay because of the two second cut-out.
But...mines a 94. I don't know if '88's are the same.

is this why my 91 takes about 2 seconds to start no mater the time of the day. -what causes the 2 second cut out?
-is this for the oil pressure to build up?
