Sometimes it takes a 2X4 between the eyes to wake some folks up. That 2X4 has been swung several times in this thread......hope the wake-up call sinks in.

When u r old enough to have kids, dad's and mother's poor judgement directly affecting babies should be long gone. Instead of stopping to think about how horrible a situation it could have been, we think it's cute/funny and post it on the Internet. Yes, we've all done dumb things, but most of us learn from our mistakes, pass common sense along to our children and hope they pass it along to theirs. Dumb and dumber don't need to be passing anything along.

I was lucky enough that my lack of judgement moments are mostly pre-Internet era. Only a handful are witnesses and they can be discredited easily!

Dang some of you guys are rough lol. I realize that people from different backgrounds / areas have different opinions, etc and that's cool. Both my boys got their first dirtbike at 3 and they have become very good little riders and can follow me nearly anywhere. They also started shooting with me around the same age (me holding the firearms of course and close supervision), they both killed their first Buck last year (oldest boy's a monster) they now have their own 22 rifles and can out shoot a lot of adults that come over to visit and shoot with us. (again, only with me and under my CLOSE supervision). It aint that big a deal, I make him drive in 4Lo and mostly use the brake unless throttle is needed. Anyway, I didn't mean at all for this thread theme to be about my boys or the oldest driving, I appreciate all the parenting advice but can we keep the discussion about the damage / repair?

I've not started pulling parts off yet, just been too busy with work. I do plan to pull the axle for the LCA repair. What are the best products to look at for replacement LCA brackets? Any one stand above the rest or are they all pretty much the same?

Alright, been searching on the forum for LCA bracket info. Seen mention of Rusty's and Artec. Just looking at the pics, the Artec look like a beefier unit, but I know there's more to it than the pics. Opinions on these? or other options?

However, don't use this to bring up your issue with a vendor and highlight it. It's not their fault your son hit a tree. Even with their bumper you may have bent the frame rail. Guess what, you don't know. Leave them out of your posts and make a small claims against them on your own.

As for the repairs, you can get stuff from rock auto, junk yard, eBay or even a part out here.

Lesson learned for you, your wife and your son. Fix your jeep and have a good day
This sums up the solution to this whole thread...

How was the install? Any quirks to getting them aligned correctly? Their site seems to indicate the positioning is pretty straight forward...

I've been lurking and watching this thread for a bit. I can see both sides, but at the same time, it is your ride, your property, and your decision. I actually like the fact you let your boys experience the things you do, and mistakes happen. Lesson learned by all, I hope. People need to stop being such nancys. I applaud you on asking to keep the thread on topic. Other people's opinions are just that: an OPINION. If you disagree, then don't let your kids do it. Just my dual Lincolns. Good luck in your repair, sir, and get your kid out there to help, so he can see what it takes to recover from such mistakes.
