i have used spray silicon to quiet squeaky belts but i have never heard of WD-40, go figure. if your belts are always wet you have some kind of leak. is the liquid oily or do you think it is water (or coolant)? water pumps have a "weep hole". when the seal around the shaft goes bad you will lose coolant from this hole and it could definitely keep you belt wet.

WD-40 on your belt? Seriously?

May as well get a new belt because your belt will never stop squeaking now. Why on earth would you put lubricant on a rubber engine belt?

You can try and wipe the belt down really good with degreaser to get the wd-40 off but I don't promise anything. It pays to do a little research if you're unsure about something - it'll save big headaches down the road trust me.

As far as changing a belt it should be on every driver's "know how" list, right alongside pumping gas and changing a tire. A basic socket set is all it takes, something you should already carry in your vehicle "just in case".

why did you say in the title that your belt is always wet if it is not? I'm guessing that English isn't you first language.

Idler pulley!!

NEVER spray anything on your belt. Just replace it.
