Default Whats this airbox hose?

What's the hose/line called running from the airbox? The one with the tape on it in the picture. It snapped in half and just wondering if I could run a regular hose or if it has to be a hardline? Thanks

Looks like PCV (positive crankcase ventilation). My last 2 cars had softlines on it, so I don't see why the jeep would be any different

That is Actually the Breather side of the PCV system. The PCV valve is actually just an oriface built into the fitting on the intake that goes to the rear of the valve cover.
The hoses should still be available at your local Chrysler Dealer.
A rubber hose will not stand up to the oil vapors and will need to be replaced again and again.
A clogged PCV system WILL cause oil leaks, deteriate vacc hoses, and foul the air filter!!

Since its the "fresh air" side of the PCV system a rubber hose should be fine since it should never see oil vapors. Assuming your PCV system is functioning correctly that is.

The rear hose on my jeeps PCV disintegrated, I grabbed a hose set off a 97. The rear line is much bigger and less prone to clogging, haven't had any issues with oil vapors or puddles in the filter since. Its not a bad idea to run some cleaner through the rear line if you have it disconnected.
