must use jumper switch to start jeep
so yeah basicly what the title says...when i turn the the key i get nothing..when i run a jumper switch to bypass everything it obviously starts right up and runs fine...was thinking it was a CSPS, but i dont think that has anything to do with it not turning over at all or getting the littlest bit of crank..any ideas? possibly NSS(dont know where its located)? bad ignition relay/wire? or maybe just a fuse...super new just bought this thing and trying to get it on the road. Thank you

If you hold the key over, and jiggle the shifter in park or neutral and it starts, it's your NSS. http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neut...ty-switch-nss/

Probably a good idea to fill in your profile and/or include your vehicle info in your post...

Yeah its obvious that you most likely drive, or are asking about a cherokee, but there are yr/engine/trans/drivetrain specific answers to questions.
Well Damn... I used my 1,000th post for this.

Why do people say " I dont mean to sound like a douche" when that means they are?

High five there Fishtaconc. (1/2 of mine are me asking Cruiser the wrong question!)(Helped me tell an OBDII form a Renix from an OBDI) Also Helped me custom wire my AW4! (even learned the AW doesn't need a sinc pulse generated, or a Hall effect transducer!)

You know guys, I hate being so blunt and possibly being rude to newbies but for crying out loud it seems like there's alot of this crap happening lately. Is it just me?

Since we don't know what you drive I will take a poke in the dark. Mine did the same....turned out to be a $14 starter/fuel pump relay. Check the power distribution box, and swap one of the relays out with the starter one. Mine fired right up.

Its the f-ing kids these days. They think they are entitled to everything... we need to bring back spankings, paper-routes, and the good old-fashon boot-up-the-*** mentality. Not all this liberal coddleing crap. Nobody wants to EARN anything anymore.

Another good place to look is the ignition cylinder. I'm not sure how often they go bad on XJs but I know A LOT of vehicles have problems with these especially if your keychain has some weight to it. The weight of too many keys over time wears out the cylinder and causes loose connections eventually leading to a no-start/crank.

Yeah I'd check the cylinder, this happened to mine a couple months after I bought it. I thought it was the nss but I ended up turning the key way too far and broke the cylinder. Once I replaced that it worked perfectly fine again. Mine is a 98 4.0 aw4
