i bought wrong cherry bomb. what specs do i need? 2 and 1 4th and 12 inch pipe.???? 95 xj sport 4.0 auto

 

you need to buy one with a 2 1/4 id ends or get some adapters that will go from the 2 1/4 to what ever size the muffler is

 

2 1/4 OD is stock, I think. You could probably get 2 1/2 to slip over tail and cat pipes. Length can be adjusted by cutting. I just put in my cheap CB Turbo last week. It was 2 1/2 OD and I just slipped it over the 2 1/4 hi-flo cat pipe. Hope this helps....forgot - pipes ID and OD usually differ by 1/8" either side of tube, OR 1/4" total diameter...like mwdouglas said, 2 1/4 ID will be a 2 1/2 OD pipe

ok. old clamps are gone. but how do i remove the muffler? and what should i use to put in cherry bomb. since it isnt a straight line from side to side. to connect

 

your new muffler has an inlet on one side and outlet opposite side on the other end you can get a 45 piece of pipe to try to bring it back to the original tail pipe or exchange it for one with the inlet and outlet that's inline with each other

 

well i can buy the 45 degree tomorrow. but i also need to know how to remove the old muffler in one peice. because i would like to save incase i ever wanna swap back.

 

as long as its not welded of course you can either use a rubber malet or i have used my foot in cases were i could lay underneth and kick the **** out of the end of it till it comes off

 

im going to have to try that. i dont think its welded. if it is im in trouble.. hah.i will wake up early and try to take it off. does it have the stock sound at first?

 

from your description of the type of cherry bomb it shouldn't that's only if you got the glass pack which looks like a piece of exhaust pipe but larger in the middle you should have a throaty sound kinda like a v8 would but prob not as loud

when you say that you kicked it. did you lay under the rear axle and push forward with your feet? or under the oil pan and push that was. or did u just start flailing your legs untill things started popping off? =)

 

i laid under the oil pan and kicked towards the rear found it was easier since the tail pipe moved but the pipe from the cat was stable

 

thanks!. sounds like a plan. i found the easiest way to get the the old clamps off in about 10 min. was to break everybolt! hah. good thing i bought new clamps

 

that tends to happen when they have been installed for a long time i found that doing the same tends to be faster i have gone as far as just cutting them off to save on time and frustration
