You might try "header tape" and wrap the muffler like a mummy....but that will not last that long....

Guy at Advance said I could just cut it out and put straight pipe in? I build chainlink fence so I have a TON of galvanized pipe (2 1/2", 3", 4" etc) so could I use that? And also I noticed there's a quarter sized hole in the pipe that goes up over the rear differential too. Is that easy to replace or patch? The whole pipe looks rusted to hell, I hate not knowing this stuff already

buy a cheap muffler or go to the muffler shops when closed and dig in their garbage bins and you can find lots of good pipe and mufflers, couple clamps and done

Muffler shop take-offs kept my junk quiet thru my poor times. My guess is dumpster diving may result in a law enforcement situation. Times are a bit different now. And, a cheap glass pack Muffler is cheaper than header tape. Good luck! R

I like the dumpster diving ideas.
If that does not pan out maybe some big hose clamps.
Assuming they would not be expensive. LOL.

Or you could get real ghetto and use mechanics wire.
Or better yet wire cloths hangers.
Are wire cloths hangers still around? LOL.

What is on the cheap to you? As in what can you afford to spend?

Do you want to change the sound? Loud or quiet?

Walker Quiet Flow replacement muffler and a Walker tail pipe would be my DIY go to.

Parts store chambered or turbo muffler with some pipe extension and a few clamps would be lowest retail/online.

If you pickup a muffler you could look into local muffler shops and check to see what they would charge to weld it on and bend a tail pipe. XJ tailpipe has an easy route and would take a seasoned tech minutes to make.

Just some thoughts.

Default No more wire hangars!

I actually have a small hoard I collected. I keep a couple in all the rides. Have come in real handy on several occasions. 😉

Bolt-on walker muffler, tailpipe, and couple of band-type clamps isn't that expensive. I did my whole exhaust from the header back, including cat, for $140. Universal muffler as cheap as $25, or custom fit for $40. If you're flat broke though, you could get creative with some of that galvanized fence pipe but it'll never fit right and sound like crap.
