"sound sweet" is highly subjective. Replace the muff with straight pipe and work your way down from there (noise wise).

If you hurry right now Jegs has Dynomax catback exhausts for $142 plus a $75 rebate. Ordered mine yesterday but the offer ends tommorow! Hopefully it sounds decent, and if it doesn't I don't care cause right now my muffler has a fist size hole in it.

Mod Edit: Please do not discuss the removal of a catalytic converter, it is a federal law to have one installed on a vehicle. consider this your warning.

I just listened to my Jeep without anything on after the cat while installing my Dynomax from summit... It sounded pretty cool without a muffler but I cant imagine that it would have any performance gains like that... As a matter of fact, it would probably run rich as hell and have zero low end torque. With the new muffler installed I can say that Im pleased with the sound (its no flomaster though) its a very quiet low drone but thats about it... I can definitely tell that it has more back pressure though and it may just be the placebo effect but it seems to have more low end torque with this versus stock...

OP, cut your muffler and cats off, that will sound....not sweet, probably just loud. Haven't heard a straight piped 4.0 before.
But i still want it to be legal. I thought you had to have the cat on there?

Tsk, tsk! Even I know better than that. Federal laws and all. Here's a bit of good reading for you, MyNameIsNick: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/cat...er-laws-24337/.

And they slap your hand here for even suggesting what you did.

Huntingman was right. Someone is always gonna post about taking the cats off. DO NOT DO THIS. DONT EVEN MENTION IT.

If you really wanna get some more flow and sound, upgrade your muffler as well as maybe gettin a new high flow cat from a vendor on this site. His stuff seems really good and it's legal.

agreed with 91 jeep man, go check out mudfrogs threads in the vender showcase, he has one for a tailpipe/flowmaster 44 muffler for 105 listed on his site, cheaper with the discount code.

reminder no cat is illegal, and not permitted to be suggested on the site
