Motor swap questions
I'm getting ready to start pulling my motor (4.0 in a 92 Cherokee Laredo) for transplant of a 4.0 out of. 93 Cherokee. I'm wondering how long and how big of a pita this is going to be? Any details or certain ways to do anything or certain tools ill need are greatly encouraged and appreciated!
Also the guy that I'm getting the motor from says its. 120xxx motor but has been sitting for 7 months. He says its been in his garage covered with oil in it the whole time. Any certain things to check for or look at?

wouldn't hurt to drain the oil out of it and put fresh in. If this is your first time doing this it could take a few days, but alot of us on here can have that motor out in just a few hours. These are pretty simple to work on. The pain is the upper bellhousing bolts. Gonna tell ya up front, it's easier to pull the header panel and radiator out, so the front is wide open.

Remove the upper bell housing bolts before any other engine to trans bolts.
I think it's an easy swap and I never remove the header panel, just the radiator.

Thanks guys for the info I just decided I'm gonna pull the head have it checked and do a headgasket. I'm 100% positive that's my issue head/ headgasket would rather do that then pull the motor and deal with all that bs.

its easier, imo, to swap engines than do a head gasket lol. With help of a freind can be done in 6-7 hours complete swap. Looking at about the same time frame for either i suppose, just a pain to get header and exhaust manifold off/on.

I had one hell of a time getting those inverted torx bolts out and ended up removing the header panel, motor, tranny and t-case...

X3 on removing those two upper bolts first. And they are NOT 10mm like the other ones.... A 10 shall strip it and make life hard.
