K I have a 98 Cherokee and I wanna know can I put a 2000 Cherokee motor in it and it be plug and play help greatly apperciated need help quick please and thank you

Probably will have to swap computers and some fittings.

Are you sure cause I currently have a 91 motor in it and the othere owner said he droped it in but idk if that's true or not apperciate it

The 2000 does not have a distributor, different intake and sensors and different ECU It will require the wiring harness and ECU with it to do it. You would be better off using another pre 99 engine.

No, I am not positive. But there are several differences between 98 and earlier to 99-01 that are not obvious on first glance.

Basically, 99-01 is another generation.

I'm sure someone knows more about this than me.

Yup it's a easy swap any 4.0 i6 will go right in old or new

Alright guys apperciate the help so quickly but I guess I'll have to turn this guy down cause that's alot of work and 2000 doesn't have a dist this guy had a 2000 motor with 50k miles actual miles

turn it down, especially if it has that aluminum head... and no, they are not all interchangable! 98 and older yes, with some senser swaps, 99 and newer, no. 89 and older are also different, renix.

I thought the first non-Renix was 1991 with the HO.

see this is bugging me now lol i was told 88 to 05 was the 4.0 i6 so with harness and ecu i wouldnt see an issue
