Default Motor swap

I have a 98 cherokee, and I'm lookin for a block to build my new motor. I've searched the forum (not had much luck with search...) and havn't found anything on what year 4.0 blocks will fit in a 98...

What I need to know is what year 4.0 blocks will fit in my 98 Jeep?
Also will the blocks from Wranglers or Grands fit in a Cherokee?

Any threads or info would be great!

Thanks!

Any year XJ Block will fit, TJ, ZJ, WJ blocks will fit but there will be extra work, IIRC you would have to drill/tap some of the bosses to get all the brackets to work not 100% certain, but any XJ Block will work. Look for the letters NVH on the drivers side this will indicate a 96+ block, also near the rear of the drivers side will be the date of casting the last 2 digits indicate year just in case
