Default motor swap

I have a 150 i4 carb that a want to take out and put a i6EFI in the motors from my YJ thats getting rebuilt, i know xjs have i6's but did the 84 ever have one? would the i6 still fit?

In 84 they had a 2.8 V-6.The 4.0 came later.I think 88 or 89.

You are correct and it was a renix motor until '91. I would get a '91 thru '99 4.0 IMHO.

Not 100% sure but I am pretty sure I read on here somewhere that the I6 will not fit in the engine bay of the old I4's the firewall is further forward and taking up the space that you would need to fit in the I6

Early 91s were Renix also.I have 2 buds that have to order parts for a 90 so they get the right part.

You are correct.

It will not house the pully system and the radiator without some work. You can A.) attempt to move the firewall back or B.) get rid of the front of the vehicle.

Put a small block chevy in it. Thats what im doing with mine when the I6 goes out.
