started cutting out rusted floor, what do i do about rust spots?

Post started cutting out rusted floor, what do i do about rust spots?

there are a coupple of rust spots all around the passenger side and i have the whole left side of the pan cut out and ready to be rewelded. pics coming soon!!! but anything i should do about the spots what about in the tailgate area i dont want to weld there as the tank might catch fire and dont want to drop the tank can i just patch it? its only one small hole about 3/4" wide no other rust in the back

I'm new to owning a cherokee but have worked my rear off doing some stuff to it so far. I have the same problem I'm not ready to tackle yet. I searched on this forum and found a step by step that someone posted and I don't remember who. But he put the new metal on and riveted it. Hope it helps.

Rivet some fresh metal in there with some silicone caulk to seal it. Good done from top, better if done from underside, best to make a sandwich. I've done this...lasts forever.

welded in a new piece along with siliconed and 5200 marine sealent works like a charm! bedliner goes on today i will have pics up by 8pm
