Default Motor problem?

Ok so I got a little wild last night and took my 94 cherokee down to the river, now this morning and last night I started having a hesitation problem. When I turn on the ignition the rpms start at 1100 and slowly rev up to 2200 then the fan clicks on and the rpms drop to 900 and the check engine light turns on. The motor feels like it has less power and it will hesitate when I step on the gas in any gear the motor will cut out for half a second a few times then go back to normal. Sorry if this is confusing I can try and clarify if you need me to I would really appreciate it!

well what did codes say? sounds like there is a vac leak if RPMs climb. did you take it TO the river, or IN the river? wet TPS is an unhappy TPS. Does it backfire or pop? How does it do at WOT?

Pulling the codes could sure help..

Have you checked codes? You said by the river, so did you run through. Any water? It might be a electrical problem. Let me know how it goes

We really can't help you if you're not willing to help yourself by checking the codes. The codes will tell us where to start looking. Otherwise everything would just be a guess.

Rtorrez1 is right. If you put the time into your own vehicle all of us are willing to help you a lot more given that we have more information.

If it's the original TPS I would say age most likely.

Yes to this. I thought I had a vacuum leak with the same things going on you described. Looked at another old thread and codes changed the sensor and all is well.
