P.S. Your transmission is out of a Toyota. Seriously.
P.P.S. Why would you want a 318? Less power? Heavier? Carb'd? Why?

Doubtful and the trannys in XJs won't hold up to much V8 power. People run SBCs with the AW4 but if the motor is built then it won't last long.
The 318 that came in Grands used a different trans so if you find them mated together you could do a swap but it'd be a ton of work.

It will not. A freind of mine has an 87 Limited and he put a EFI 5.0 in it and had to run a C6 4wd tranny out of an F-150 in it. I believe hes still got the original transfer case hooked up though. He said it was pretty easy putting the 302 in it.
