You most definitely have the wires mixed up. That's what I did too when I replaced mine in such a hurry and it was running on 4 cylinders. Also, make sure they all click on.

Yea, that sounds about right. Just use that diagram and you'll be fine. Whatever the cap says is number 1, start there and go around.

if you didn't turn the crankshaft when the distributor was off and you put the rotor pointing in the same direction as before you should be ok.

Alright, this is what you need to do. Contact forum member FrankZ because he is all-knowing and posted how to do it, but I can find the thread . I'm pretty sure this is how you do it, though.

1. Pull the distributor cap off.
2. Remove the distributor.
3. Manually turn the engine over until cylinder one is at Top Dead Center on the compression stroke. You can do this by pulling cylinder one spark plug and turning it until you feel the air blowing on you're finger, then stop.
4. Reinstall the distributor with the rotor pointing towards cylinder 1 at the 5 o'clock position.
5. Reinstall the distributor cap.

Haha, agreed. But after a while on the forum, you know how to do everything without even thinking twice.
