I have read through all the most recent post on this thread and I just want to reiterate that the neon injectors. The ones that have been listed here 100 times are the best for the older engines! I just swapped mine it was a huge difference. And chrysler put about a million of these 2.4 and 2.0 liter 4 bangers on the road so you can find them anywhere.

The only difference between these and Jeep stock reg is the spring constant.

As a rule of thumb, the higher the pressure the better fuel atomization.

So, if you are about to chose a new injectors setup, a high pressure reg with low output injectors will be best. The down side is the cost, a new high pressure reg cost about $40 (eBay) on top of new/used set of injectors.

[The above apply to EV6 injectors, the older style injectors, EV1, do not respond well to increased pressure/pressure changes, the beam get wider, turbulence...]

This is why new cars have higher pressure + low output injectors, LS1 run on 4 bar, VW run even higher...

If you have access to JY then the cost will be next to nothing.

These all run at 48psi? Part number to confirm?

I got my injectors today. I tested them at 13 ohm's. Are they good? I thought I read they are 14 ohm's? Someone said if they are 12 ohm's they are bad. Can someone clarify?

I used the Neon injectors in my 2000 Sport. You need the ones ending in 748, they have the newer EV6 connector that your 4.0L engine uses. I would try and get the newest Neon you can find to ensure the right plug. Look at your plugs or take a picture of them when you go. The difference is obvious.

Replace the o-rings when you put them in. I did this a few days ago and idle and acceleration are definitely smoother. Seems to have a little more HP as well.

Good luck!

These should work for him as well.

Another alternative for the stock 99-up 4.0L is the (22.8#=240cc @ 43.5psi) Ford XR3Z 9F593 A4B / XR3E 9F593 A4B (MOTORCRAFT #CM-4956 )which is the newest design and offer even better performance.

This injector has a single hole and looks disappointingly similar to the stock 99-'01 injector .
The main method for increasing atomization in the ev6 injectors was by increasing holes number and reducing each hole size. One can't add holes and reduce size indefinitely, so a new approach was needed when regulations became more strict.

The newer design is not relying on number of holes, it's a completely different approach with the difference in the internal orifice which allows far better atomization. This also gives an even better ability to work on variable pressure, as with most newer cars the pressure is computer controlled.
This, in turn, gives more accurate fuel mixture at any given pressure.
