Ok, so I purchased a set a revolver shackles from a guy. I have done a ton of research before I purchased a cherokee and have NEVER seen any like this. Can anyone give me a little info on them.

i have seen many a post to the reference that they arent worth the money spent, and have unpredictable tendency to unload on hills. it looks like some of the motion those would have made is limited by those pins

These revolvers actually lock.... so they will never unload unless you pull the pins (kinda like quick disconnects)

why not get a regular shackle then? isnt the extra 'flex' the revolvers give the point of them?

If you look the pin is removable so that they don't unload during normal driving. The pin is removed when you enter a trail just as you would remove your sway bar links

They look like a home made set of revolvers. They do have the tendency to unload when going down hill or when you hit the brakes hard, but properly set up.. they work great. The quick disco could be used during decents down hills and while on the road.

Most of the time when I am rockcrawling unless I am going off a ledge.. I am climbing up a hill to get to the obstacle.... not down

I'd try them at least. A buddy of mine made a set like that (he's a machinist) for his yota and they work great. As said above, just be wary of their tendancy to unload as you're going down hill on the brakes.

Thank you for agreeing with me. I know that people have had ALOT of problems with them unloading on the road but I figured with them being able to be locked it would stop that problem. I didn't start the thread so that people can bash revolvers, I started it to find out if anyone had heard of this setup (locking revolver). The guy I bought them from from just converted to rear coils and said he never had any problems with them. I plan on repainting them and installing them with t-bird front coils (possibly adding a few leafs from an s10 (to level the ride).

while they are cool for flex pictures, you need to make sure your driveshaft has enough travel in it (and is a cv type shaft), make sure your brakeline is long enough, get longer shocks to make use of the additional articulation.

and now that you sunk at least another 100 bucks on stuff to make it work to its potential( even more if you care about quality shocks and didn't have an sye yet), be careful when driving fast, i wouldnt wan't my rearend to drop to the earths mantle and bind the driveshaft spitting it into pieces.

the money is much better spent on a locker, lifting a tire every now and then isn't bad.

But if you don't mind disconecting your shackles every time you absolutely need the extra flex, do it up.

I say static flex them f you can.. check for binding on the DS like pointed out.. then limit suspension. then Buy appropriate length shocks.

I would run them

Lots of them on ebay - cheap - slightly used.

WHY?
