I'm trying to save a bit of money here. If I use a K&N filter and simply cut open a couple sides of the stock airbox (like the front side and fender side walls), will that be adequate? Or do I really have to remove all the stock stuff? Thanks.

Cool. So you're saying the hole in the stock box can supply enough air? Looks kinda small, but maybe that's okay... Unless I hear that I need to open up the box a bit more, I'll leave it as-is.

I was going to modify mine somehow so that it gets cooler air from somewhere. Dunno where yet. In my SS, the factory snorkel went to the area in front of the radiator, but theres ALOT more room under the hood of my Monte Carlo.

I cut the front corner out of mine to allow more air, on the side away from the engine. Hard to tell if does any better, it seemed like a good idea. The only true cool-air intake, IMHO, is a snorkel.
