Default Missing front drive shaft

What would be the possible reasons for a PO to remove the front drive shaft on a 99 XJ?

Does the Jeep have a SYE? If so the PO may have used the front drive shaft for the rear.

That's really the only reason I can think of. Head to a PnP and grab one. It's only 8 bolts. Piece of cake to remove. I think I paid $35 for the one I got.

You can use a ZJ front driveshaft. They aren't identical, but they fit just fine.

Thanks, I actually think there might have been a few ZJ's at the JY. I'll go check it out

either had bad u-joints or centering ball. those are a bit of a pain to rebuild, and pricey too.
i'm doing one right now in my 97 tj. still factory joints with over 300k kms.
driveshaft is out and is still being driven.
