Default Milky oil on dipstick, Bad Head gasket?????

I have milky oil on the tip of my dip stick. Does this mean my head gasket is starting to go? I will post a pic later.

Well that means water is gettin into your oil, as for your head gasket, im not to sure, but that is a very big problem. It could be any number of things causing water to mix with your oil

It can indicate a head problem but it could also mean that there is some condensation building up as well. I've seen it where it is NOT head related.

Questions:

1. How often do you change your oil?
2. Do you take a lot of short trips? Short trips can lead to a buildup of moisture due to the fact that the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn it off............

maybe do a block check, see if there's any combustion gases in your coolant

It is not over heating , or running bad, or smoking . Just this milky stuff on the end of the dip stick . The oil is 10w30 casteroil synthitic blend. The 3erd pic down I just stuck the dip stick in to touch the top of the oil in the pan. I do take alot of short rides in the jeep. I changed the oil in june 2010.

I will check the air cleaner, I have not been wheeling in the water. I did hose the motor down many times when I bought the XJ in june. The motor was VERY dirty.

The milky stuff can be seen in the dipstick tube also. But not under the oil filler cap.
