Default METAL SOUND

89 cherokee 4x4 stock suspension 4.0 when I am driving i can distinctly hear a sound like when you put your tire on and you push it all the way back on the lugs- dont know how else to describe it. got out of the xj and rock each side real hard, def narrowed it down to the right side forward wheel well, what should i look for that would make sounds when driving or small bumps, its not a squeaky sound.it makes the sound when the rim first hits the lugs when mounting the tire on. tomorrow i am putting it up on jack stands so figured i would ask before i lookd in the wheel well.xj pulls to the right but i have a caliper worn, the rim gets alot hotter than the other rims. thats about all the info i can give you o it has the original 10 spoke rims but i doubt that will matter

Warped rotor maybe? Or stuck caliper. Definitely sounds to me like something having to do with that particular brake. But I am not much of an expert it just seems like that could be it due to the hot rim and the metal on metal sound.

sounds like something to do with your brakes, but I dont see how it would make a metallic sound.. I would check your axle u-joint on that side, and also your hub/wheel bearings...

brakes would be my first guess, maybe a froze up caliper? I'd also check the wheel bearings. jack that wheel up, put one hand at the top, one hand a the bottom and see if you can wiggle it at all. Make sure your lugs are good and tight first though.

figured it out, 1989 poly bushings were bad. the bar was bouncing around and made the thud sound.
