Default Melted Wires

I have a 87 cherokee laredo, all the wires seem to have melted and it has stopped runing. I believe it's the last of amc before chrystler took over. I heard that when chrystler took over they fixed the problem, any ideas on how to fix the problem? Any books you recomend that goesin depth into wirig?

ALL the wires are melted? Did you set it on fire? You're going to need to be a LOT more specific, man... you could need a little diagram from Google or the entire FSM for all we can tell

And "Chrysler" is a synonym for "electrical problems"

"Chevrolet" is an old Indian name meaning "flat camshaft".

Alright it's a orange wire comin from the fuel pump. I was told I needed a porcelain part I can find off later models.an I figure that since the wires that shorted out melted an all my other wires are hard I might as well replace all the stuff under the hood too be safe.

Ballast resistor. If you want to replace every wire, that's entirely up to you man.
