Default May be looking into another XJ, questions?

I previously owned a 91 Laredo 5 spd, lifted, etc... Sold it a few years back and may be interested in getting another. Have some questions though....

What is the best year for the least amount of problems? My 91 had 140k on it and I wheeled the hell out of it and never had any problems. My Bro-in-law had a 97 and was constantly fixing stuff and had only 112k. I like the 97+ style but hear 2000+ have head problems. Is this true?

I will be getting an auto this time around (wife). How do they hold up?

My Laredo had manual windows and locks. I hear the power stuff has issues, is this correct?

I was also running 5+ inches of lift with 33's with 3.55 gears (swapped auto axles to get the 8.25 / track lock combo) and got horrible fuel economy. What type of mileage do stock ones get and ones with 31's.

I hate to say it but I am also looking into Toyota T100's, but they are expensive and hard to come by.

Any other comments, feedback would be appreciated.

Mostly commuting to and from work. May use for some occasional trails, but nothing hard core. My old one was pretty much a dedicated trail rig and I cannot go that route again.

I am an essential employee meaning I have to be at work regardless. My lowrider truck does not really work when there is a foot of snow on the ground.

I did call on a 93 sport with 105k for $3950 at a local dealer I may look at tomorrow.

$3950 seems kind of steep for a 93 XJ. I'm seeing '01 Cherokees around here for around that.
