Default massive oil leak ...possibilities?

Its got a massive oil leak and it's so bad I've got oil droplets on my fenders in the back and on the hatch.. oil dross not look too low though, looks like oils pan gasket. Because its in front of my pan and around but would that make it smoke a bit like the oil burning on the headers?

had to read through that a few times to uder stand what ur saying. if its leaking from the front of the motor it could be the pan gasket, crankshaft seal in the timing chain cover, timing chain cover, head gasket, valve cover, or even all of those things at the same time

One time doing something with the air cleaner I plugged off the hose from the valve cover to the air cleaner. I didn't know it at the time, but the little tube that goes to the pcv valve was also plugged. MY jeep has high mileage and some blow-by. (bit like exhaust getting past the piston rings into the crankcase). With out being able to get out as designed it blew oil out all over.

And/also. As you see, when it's everywhere it's tough to see where it's coming from. If you look RIGHT AWAY after you clean it, before you even leave the car wash you should be able to see where it's coming from.

Yea man im just trying to get a solid idea.. its hard to tell sue to 300,xxx mi and a leaky valve cover gasket im moving to dallas and I noticed this on my trip, it scared me a bit but it seems to be a slow leak as it barely dropped on the dipstick since the last time I checked it 60 miles ago

Over 300,000 mi? Yea, make sure the valve cover can vent out. That tube to your air cleaner is suppose to provide filtered air IN to the crank case. With 300,000 K it may be blowing out, or trying to. If it can't, positive crankcase pressure will blow oil out wherever it can. Also make sure your PCV valve is sucking. (pull it out and check)(without wrecking the gromit.

Oh, and, if the crank pulley where to get loose, all of the sudden you would have a big leak at the timing cover seal.

How would I remove the tube that goes to my air cleaner?
Without breaking it off at the valve cover?

215 K on my 90 and the exact same thing happened. blew oil like friggin exxon valdeze. cleaned out the PCV tube and and replaced the air intake on the valve cover. good to go.

originally looked like the bottom of the motor, but thats just gravity doing its thing.

On my 90 the small tube goes to the pcv valve, top, rear of the valve cover. The pvc valve pulls out of the rubber grommet. With it out and the engine running you should feel & hear vacuum. On mine, the larger front tube that went to the air cleaner is now a "draft tube". Hauling a load uphill some smoke comes out if it. I've seen old cars with a metal road draft tube that went down near the ground and was cut off at an angle so as to suck/make a vacuum when cruse'n.

Not sure the RM would get the front that well.

By the by, a few months ago I bought a pan gasket and seal, then returned them after I un-pluged my PCV tube. By the by.....after you drop the pan you need to unbolt the oil pump to get the pan out, (according to the book), Napa I checked doesn't sell just the oil pump gasket.
