Default Low Temperature Thermostat & Fan Switch?

Here's the deal...

I live in Portland, Oregon and I drive my 2000 Jeep Cherokee as a daily driver. Most of the time the temperature needle sits right in the middle where it should. Every so often on a hot day (which is extremely rare) during Summer it will climb a little over the center mark on the temperature gauge.

It never gets any higher than that, but I was starting to think that maybe something to look into would be a low temperature thermostat and fan switch. Not sure if anyone makes one for the XJ but if they do would it be worth it or am I just being paranoid?

Hmmm, good to know! Just wasn't sure if the temperature gauge was ever supposed to go above the middle. This is the first vehicle I've owned where that happened, even in the heat.

A properly functioning t-stat does one thing only....control MINIMUM temp. The other cooling system components, their condition, along with ambient temp and driving conditions determine MAX coolant temp.
