Low Oil Pressure...Help!
My jeep has low oil pressure. It stays below the half way marker, and when its idle goes all the way to zero. What could be the problem?

10/30, my husband says its about a quart low though but he's still worried about it. Would it being that low be the cause? I just got it a week ago so i dont know a whole lot about it yet. The mechanic didn't seem worried about it. But ive been reading up and some people said it might be a cracked head or thrown rod.

Mine is the same way.. I need a new small block or rebuild the engine my mechanic says, also says I shouldn't drive it. 30,000 miles later.. Just have to change the oil every 2000 instead of 3000 and run the heaviest thickest oil I can find.

I recently discover that I have low pressure as well.... Maybe I should try that thicker oil.
is thicker oil anything with the second number bigger than 30 ? like 10W40 ?
What impact does it have on the engine, or seals if you are changing oil for thicker ?
I take it it is depending on where you live and how hard you use your jeep, I have heard also that it can "mask" some ticking noises in the engine....

How many miles are on it?
Also, take the oil filler cap off the valve cover (when the engine is COLD) and stick your finger in there. If you pick up sludge and crud, the engine is probably just tired out and has not had the best of service. If your finger comes out nice and clean - just oil and maybe a wee bit of gack - then it's probably just one of those motors with low pressure.
The Haynes manual says "normal" is 17 to 37 psi. A motor with 100k on the clock might make 10 pounds. That's hardly enough to register on a cheapo OEM pressure gauge but that doesn't mean the engine is junk.
I've got 205,000 on mine and it makes 40 pounds hot at cruise speed. That, IMO, is great. I forgot to look at what it does at idle. Probably 15 pounds.

Connect a monometer and measure pressure.
Remove the bottom cover of the engine and look rod loose leaves. In case of need replace the pump and rod loose leaves.
I am sorry for my English
