Hey guys, I'm a bit perplexed on what is wrong with my oil pressure. I had the oil changed today and now my oil pressure is barely above 0. Probably 1 if not 0 psi. The "check gauges" light is on but I figure once it warmed up the pressure would increase. Well thats not the case, the Jeep is running great, sounds great, just shows low pressure. Any ideas? Fixes?

x2 if it's good then get a flashlight take off your oil cap and if you see oil then it's your gauge. if you don't see oil then it's prolly your pump. you can do this while the engine is running to see if the oil is moving. the oil will not fly out what so ever. good luck!!! i hope for your sake that it's your gauge and you haven't been driving with not oil!

I checked the oil level and it's full with clean oil. Maybe the oil sensor was bumped or shorted?

Is the oil sensor located inside the oil pan?

check the gauge sending unit, on mine it is located by the oil filter and really easy to knock the connection off while changing filter

If it is just the sensor or sending unit, will that cause any mechanical damage? Or will it just make my gauges read inaccurately?

The Oil pressure senor will cause no damage to your engine...just gauges. I had the same problem as you. except it wasnt 0... my sensor was also leaking oil and had to get a whole new sensor. $20.

It will only cause the gauge or light to not work correcctly, you can verify oil pressure with a mechaincal gauge, if pegged either left or right on dash gauge would think wire to sensor is knocked off and can be reattached.

Well guys it ended up being the oil pressure switch. Bought a new one from local auto parts store and now my gauges are reading correctly with normal PSI. It broke off right where the metal meets the plastic on the switch itself.

Same thing happened to me, seems like one of those design flaws no one thought about until it was complained about lol, except when i broke mine i didnt know what it was and shot oil everywhere, and now my gauge doesnt work,

It's funny because it took $20 and 2 minutes to replace the thing myself, and I called the local Pep Boys to see how much the part and replacement would be and they said $150!! Just goes to show it saves you tons of money if you do a little work yourself!
