Which Fram filters are you guys referring to? the crappy orange ones? I use Fram Ultra Guard ones all the time without issue, but they're like $9/each. Running a Purolator on the XJ right now though.

I got a 2000 xj. And I had all those noises except the running water noise. And come to find out my number one rod bearings were shot. One was all crushed up in my oil pan. And the other was paper thin. Still had good oil pressure according to the gauge wile running. Kinda low at idle.

Switched to a mopar filter today with my oil change. Wow what a difference. I now idle at 30psi when hot and 55-60psi at 2500rpm. I also added marvel mystery oil to free up any sticky lifters. Thanks for the help guys. I still hear the running water type sound that i didnt have before but i havent heard the knocking so maybe im in the clear.

Sweet! Usually running water noise is air bubbles going through the heater core, is your coolant low at all?

I have a slow leak from the bottom portion of my radiator. I top my reservoir off usually once per week but at the moment it is full.
