OK, I think I got it. Those instructions are as simple as it gets. I just needed to process the info. Walking to Advance Auto to get the parts

Ok, I'll grab a belt. Should I get the 1yr or 3yr? Also, how long will the belt take and what all does it entail?

Yes! Look at the cracks in it in your photos!

As for which belt, the more experienced XJ guys recommend a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I'm not running one myself but that's what I'll get when I replace it.

Ok fellas: the job is complete!

I changed the idler pulley and the serpentine belt (and since removing the air filter and box-courtesy of lowrange2, I will be purchasing a new air filter tomorrow).

Thanks for all of your help. As always, a shout out to freegdr-holla.

If you want to hire more than a cashier, you need to pay for more than a cashier.

That's the truth! I applied at BJs a few years ago to be a tire tech. The lady asked me if I'd ever installed tires before. I told her thousands of times - once they were on the rim - and that I was able to perform automotive maintenance up to the level of engine swaps. I stated I also had my own tools. She offered me $7 an hour. I told her that was ridiculous and thanked her for her time.

What belt did you end up getting?

could've spent $4 on the bearing that goes inside the pulley, knock the old bearing out with a hammer, knock the new one in easy 1 min job swapping bearings in an idler pulley...I've done 4 on jeeps alone...the bearings are right behind the counter at any auto parts stores

I bought the most expensive belt they have had Advance Auto... the 3yr.

Ok, so now I'm having a new challenge:

When I cut on the heat or a/c, I am getting this high pitched squealing noise when I accelerate. However, when I slide the lever to heat, no noise. What gives?

Later, when I get home I will post A/C, heat range to illustrate what I'm describing.

After I bought the pulley I thought to myself, I could've just replace this piece (bearing). Next time... at the end of the day, I accomplished something. I feel victorious. Glory to God.
