Need some help here. Would a fuel pump start clicking eraticly before it fails? I just had this weird click coming from the rear of the rig that has me stumped. It didn't increase or decrease when I accelorated. It would stop shortly then pick up again, more of an electrical sound, like a relay not getting enough juice, but louder.

I was about 50 miles from home on a back road and it was snowing, so I just kept going and it finally quit.

 

Sounds like the fuel pump inside the tank took a crap!!!! Spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner in the intake, and see if the Jeep will start up for a couple of seconds until the staring fluid burns out... If it does start, i would take a test light and make sure you have 12 volts to the fuel pump, if you have 12 volts at the fuel pump, you can safely say the fuel pump is history....

 

When I said it finally quite, I guess I should have said the clicking stopped and it still ran fine, good power and all. The clicking noise lasted about 20 miles.

Just another electrical gremlin. I'm getting ready to go out and look at it. Who knows.

 

Did You ever figure out what it was ? Mine just started this yesterday when I was leaving work.
it comes from around the driver side rear wheel only does it when started not just in the run position. It clicks for awhile then stops then starts again a few times then stops.
