Default Bank one O2 sensor heater circuit

So the 15 amp fuse keeps blowing.

It is the one described in this thread;
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/o2-...=sensor+heater

I checked around the wiring a little & nothing seems out of place.

Does anyone know if the heater in the sensor goes bad, does it tend to short out the fuse?

In other words if I put a new sensor in, will it likely stop blowing the fuse?

It's running rough & sputters a lot. It runs great if I floor it, but doesn't want to cruise.

Anyone know how to test the sensor?

How about testing the heater circuit?

I never have much luck pulling a bunch of wires out of the looms.

If you don't find anything with the wiring or connector, replace the sensor.

I like NTK replacement sensors. They are the supplier of oxygen sensors to Jeep.

Not to hijack, but does anyone know how to check the operation of the O2 relays?

Hey buckshot. Mine did that when the wires to the injectors where shorting, a little sometimes. An easy check. Mine where grounding on the heat shield.

To check if its the o2 sensor, you could disconnect it, replace the fuse and see if holds. If so, your o2 sensor is bad. If it still blows, your problem is elsewere.

Good luck with and let us know

Well I did just that. Disconnected the O2 connector & replaced the fuse. The fuse held, so It's probably the heater in the sensor is bad.

Now if I can just get the sensor to come out when I try it.

Should have the new sensor by Saturday. I won't be able to do anything until then.

I was glad to see the C/E light come back on, at least it will run without all the sputtering & popping.

Put it the new sensor last night & disco'ed the battery for a few minutes.

Runs great & no C/E light!

The old sensor came right out too, didn't even need a cheater on the breaker bar.
