My check engine light is on, threw the code for the NSS. went off momentarily, came back on and stayed on. NSS seems fine because I can only start in N and P, however, my trans will not shift into 4th gear, it will sometimes but only when I've been cruising around in 3rd for a while. 9/10 it wont shift. I've been gathering info and am going to check the TCU (what do I look for?), wiggling the shifter when it won't shift into 4th to see if its a shift cable issue...or should I come right back to my NSS issue and replace it anyways? I read one post that mentioned a bad transmission speed sensor but I'm trying to try the easier things first. It's under 200***K so it couldn't be the bands. Adjusted the throttle cable. Checked the tranny fluid btw, and it was fine, a little full if anything - (will a leaking tranny seal always be real obvious?)
Any thoughts/experiences?

If your Transmission is leaking you'll notice it if you let it cool and run your hands around it and come up with fluid. I leaking transmission that you need to hunt down a leak probably isn't enough to cause that. It sounds like you have a serious issue and might want to call around to a shop that knows what type of transmission, Asian Warner 4, and can give you a real quote on how much it would cost to diagnose it. Don't let the shop that tells you they don't know till it's in the shop to sweep you off your feet. If their main concern is getting your jeep in the shop then I wouldn't suggest it.
