first of all i want to say hi ive been lurking on the forums a bit and thought id say hello.
so im a pretty mechanically inept guy.
i drive a pos saturn thats my wifes so she can drive the nice car i had when we met. GRRRR
a friend of mine had pity on me and gave me his jeep having just bought a new patriot he had no need for the old broken jeep
i was gifted a 1998 jeep Cherokee sport with 2 wheel drive and a valve stuck open so it had no compression.
what to do??
i got a chilton book a couple of sets of wrenches from lowes and went to work.
with some direction from my brother in law and a bit elbow grease i managed to strip the engine down to the head. my buddy told me it overheated and he was told it was a head gasket but when we removed the head there was a valve stuck open and the gasket was fine.
so thats where i am now the heads off being resurfaced and the valves are being done.
i found the gaskets and alot of the stuff i want to replace on autopartswarehouse.com i want to replace the water pump and anything that looks like it needs it. plugs wires and dist cap and rotor
new bolts for the head etc...
oh and i screwed up the fuel line and bent it and it now leaks
i also broke one of the bolts for the ac mount but i can still pull it with vise grips
i know this thread is usless without pics and i will upload some soon
i just wanted to introduce you guys to me and my project
i cant wait to finally get her running!!!!
i will post pics asap.
also does anyone know where i can get the fuel line??

Nice!
Congrats and welcome to the forum. When you say you bent the fuel line do you means the fuel rail that the injectors clip into?

That's the fuel inlet and return line on the fuel rail. If you broke the one on the left you can just get a new fuel pressure regulator if its the one on the right you need a new fuel rail.

hopefully you wont have an overheating problem, because that can be annoying to fix. although there's alot of knowledgable people to ask here. but sometimes it just dont work...lol
