Default long arm or short

So I am trying to decide between two RC kits. Either the 6.5 short arm or the 4.5 longarm. What are your thoughts? I would look at the 4.5 short arm, but it does not have the track arm or the upper control arms. If I do the swap I want to ensure that I replace all the control arms, because the stock ones are pretty weak.
Thanks Brendan

If your ready to spend the money go with the long arm. It will give you a better ride on the street and more articulation on the trail. Plus they look sweet. Just my two cents.

I was tossing up the same idea, what I am going to do is the 6.5" lift and do the Long arm upgrade later. Seems like the best of both worlds.

Yea, when you go with 4.5 inches of lift or higher you have to think of the steep angles of the control arms. The steeper you go the worse the ride. I have a 4.5 short arm rubicon lift. Its not a bad ride but rough at times on bad streets. Whenever I have $850 floating around in my bank acount im going to buy the T&T customs long arm conversion kit.

That is what I was thinking. 4.5 should give me the lift I want and the long arm seems like the way to go. I have been out of this a while, but somewhere along the line while I wasnt looking they came up with long arm. What size tires you think I could fit without fender trimming?
Thanks Brendan

From what I've read, 4-4.5" is the max you should run on short arms w/DBs, or adjustable short arms. Anything over, and LAs will work better.

Save your money till you can afford the long arms if your going with the 6"+ lift right away. Short arms and that much lift is a terrible road ride.

If i were you, and i was at one time i'd go with the 4.5" lift and short arm, then upgrade the arms and height later.

On RC they say you need to do minor trimming to fit 33s, but ive seen 32s on 3" without trimming so i'm almost sure you could fit 33s just fine

33's on a 4.5 will rub unless properly bump stopped my last 89 had a 4.5" RC 33x12.50 it would only rub at full flex though... My new rig is on 33's with a 3" and rubs a little worse gotta bumpstop more...

So I am definitely going with the long arm kit. The only decision I have to make is 4.5 or 6.5. I dont know if I really need the 6.5, but i like having the option. What do you guys think? Is the extra 2" worth it?
thanks Brendan

Well then I guess that settles it. I am going to have stock fender flares and what not. What size tires can I fit on that kit without rubbing?
Thanks Brendan
