Mine is rusted in the same spot. Pretty common in the rust bet. I plan on cutting mine out and welding box steel in for rock sliders.

I've got 5" in the front on short arms (RE's), it rides rough, but other than that, no issues.

Well I've seen tons of people with 4.5+ on short arms, it works just fine. But just a suggestion, I would run extended shackles instead of blocks, its WAAAY stronger and more reliable, and hardly any more money. Its up to you but just my opinion.

Ya if ur not trying to flex it a lot then I wouldn't worry about long arms, but if if a better ride ur lookin for go with control arm drop kits! Way cheaper & I've heard they ride pretty smooth!?!?

Yeah, CA drops ride like a dream. They really take away from ground clearance though. I'll personally be going with a long arm kit at some point in the future.

You heard wrong. Lowering the control arm brackets returns the control arms to a position closer to the stock/non-lifted height. You'll end up with a rig that rides darn near identical to a stock heep....and that's not much of an improvement.

Drop brackets are a less expensive means of smoothing out the ride of a lifted rig, but it will never ride as well or flex as well as long arm equiped rig.
