Default Locks cycle on there own....

Hello all,

this is on my 2000 xj 4 door. So for a year or two my locks would cycle on there own. It will lock twice really quick randomly.. just lock lock then some latches are bound in the lock position-. the switch wont unlock them and you have to manually do it or force the handle open.

it doesn't matter key in/on or off. will do it crusing down teh highway or sitting in myy driveway with no one in /around it. dorrs open or closed...

I have opened all 4 door harnesses looking for broken wires. fixed 6, 1 fully split the others cracked. still doing it. was hoping broken wires but now thinking somthing elss. Anyone have this problem fixed or ideas to look at?

found it. its the lock relay built into teh pass front switch. too it apart and found the relay will stick and continue to send lock signal even when in relaxed state, would also randomly click. if i unplugged it and plugged it back in all the lock would cycle 2-4 times. hope thats the only issue lol

Just to finish this out with complete repair. I replaced the pass front door lock switch. the problem went away for a week, think it just stopped i don't think it needed the switch, It came back. after looking at the wiring diagrahm I desided to unplug the keyless over head ecu to determin if it is sending a false signal. well it was. I unplugged it and its gone. plugged it back i and it would send a solid lock signal and keep them bound in lock. I have aftermarket keyless so it makes no difference to me. I just left it unplugged. hope this helps someone. If you wanted factory keyless you would need to repalce the ecm and jave the keys reprogrammed.

The receiver box is up in the dome light / overhead console.
