Hi all, I want to put a lock right in a dana 30 non-disconnect front axle on my 91 XJ and was concerned if there were going to be unacceptable steering issues while on pavement. It is not a daily driver but does need to be driven around 30 miles to get to my offroad spot.

pass side axle upper control arm mount. either its welded directly to the axle tube, or its part of a cast housing. that housing is the vacuum disconnect housing.

I am running one in my 30 right now. As stated above you will not notice it when in 2hi, unless you have the 242 t-case where you have full time 4wd, then you will be all over the road due to the power going to the axle.
Install the lock-right;aussie or spartan and dont look back. Its a awesome and simple upgrade.

Correct. The drive shaft will turn and if it's out of balance could cause vibes especially if you have a t-case drop installed but the locker itself will be invisable. I have ran Lock Rites, Aussies and Detroits. For the money the Aussie can't be beat but the Detroit is almost bullet proof. The weak link to the Aussie and other lunch box lockers is the carrier. Check it well before you install a locker and if you see a crack stop and replace it.
