Title pretty much says it all haha. Where do I locate my tstat and how easy is it to put a 195* in?
Follow your upper radiator hose to the engine. It's clamped to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is inside.
Engine cold...don't want to get scalded...
Drain the radiator partway down using the petcock at the bottom of the radiator.
remove the hoses from the thermostat housing,
unscrew the bolts holding the housing to the block,
remove the housing,
remove the old thermostat.
Clean away any old gasket material.
Install the new thermostat (not backwards!.. make sure it's set into the recess, spring towards engine, bleed hole at the top if there is one...take a good look at the old one before you yank it),
put the gasket in place,
double-check the thermostat is still sitting in the recess....
screw the housing back on, (tighten the bolts a little bit at a time, alternating back and forth..don't want to snap a mounting ear. Spec is 15 ft/lbs. MAX)
re-attach the hoses,
refill the radiator.
Warm up to operating temp, check coolant level, put radiator cap on & let system pressurize and check for leaks.
If the gasket surfaces on the thermostat housing and/or block are rough or pitted, adding a small bit of RTV to both sides of the gasket will help prevent leaks.
