96 xj stumbling and stalling HELP
I have a 96 cherokee sport 4x4 auto with 4.0. I have replaced whole distributor, plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter, fuel pump, alt, battery, water pump, crank sensor, and did a headgasket to it as well as trans and transfercase. it starts fine but idles up and down drops to around 400-500 and cuts out after a bit. driving it around it is ok until i hit the throttle past half way when i do it falls flat on its face and sometimes will stall out. i am still throwing a cam/crank coralation code. im at the end of my rope with it any help will be appreciated. thanks a ton

Did you by chance source you crankshaft position sensor at a typical auto parts store? If so, that could be your problem. It has been discussed at length that the ONLY place you should by a CPS is from the Jeep dealership. I learned this too late after spending $97 on a unit from NAPA only to find it didn't work worth a crap. Rough running/missing/cutting out/etc. Went to Jeep and spent $117 for an OEM unit and all my issues went away!
Unfortunately, they are a HUGE PITA to change. I took out my center console, shifters, and tunnel cover plate so I could get easier access to the two bolts that hold it in.

i would say its the CPS as well.
you could also take off your idle air control valve and clean it or replace it (i found out mine was broken when i took it off)
also i was told to replace my throttle position sensor, which i did.
i replaced those and then the cps last, but that was the fix for me.
