A little make up for the jeep.
My XJ has some body damage and trail rash and I'm gonna have to replace the front end parts so I was thinking of some paint ideas. I have thought of satin black or olive drab spray job. I was also thinking about herculining the entire thing in black. The herculiner would help prevent future damage and the body work would not have to be perfect. I wanted to see what others opinions were on this idea. If you know anybody that has done it or have pictures, please post them. Any other ideas would be great too. Be brutally honest about your opinions about my idea, I dont want to regret it a couple months afterward. I'm not ready to do it yet, just planning ahead. Thanks for any input. Also, my jeep is tan right now with tan interior, would it look rediculous not to do the jambs?

That is a BAD-*** looking rig..I like the all-black look, and the liner makes it look like it means BUSINESS.
The downside is that, for all practical purposes, it is irreversible...kinda like a tattoo.
It might also limit resale potential...If it were me, I'd do it only if I knew I would be the last owner.

Herculiner makes a uv stabilzer to apply over the liner to prevent fading or restore a faded liner. Or I could always spray som rustoleum over top of it if it faded.
What about the door jambs? Should i try putting liner on the jambs, leave them alone, or just spray paint em black to match the liner? Thanks for all the input. Keep it coming.

My brother lined his 66 bronco with a product called Duraback I think. He fixed it up last year. The black and white are also the same stuff. Pardon the shrunk person, hahah its my brother.

I did one Jeep in Rusteloum Camo Olive Drab...
Covered up most of the really ugly stuff fairly well...
Just make sure to prep the paint well, I didn't and I had to touch-up all the time.
Had one really cool trail incident though...
Had been wheeling at Cliff's one day and we were in the parking lot loading up to go. Some guy next to me says "You really scraped the heck outta the paint on your rear door".. I pulled the spray can outta the truck and repainted it in front of him. We had a really good laugh about it....

a while back I saw a good write up where a guy used thinned rustoleum paint and a roller to paint a VW bug! It sounds crazy but his paint looked pro when he was done.

I've seen this method but I don't think I would have the time or patience to do it that way. They say you have to put like 6-10 coats on and sand inbetween. Just not for me. Thanks for the idea though.
