Hey guy my friend has a 90 XJ. He doesnt want to put any money into the truck as it will not pass safety and its just he bush bomber. How hard is it to weld the spider gears on his rear axle? Could we also weld the front spider gears as well and have its completely locked?

all you have to do is weld the spidergears together pretty straight forward just make sure to clean out all the garbage from welding when your done as for the front you will have real hard time turning if you weld them solid i would just do the back if its a trail rig

if you don't mind pulling the diffs then it will be a lot easier to do out of the jeep this way you can clean it better and get better control of the welding. just make sure you note the position of the shims and put them back in where they came out of and you wont disturb the gear mesh
