Lights
Hi , I am new to this forum. I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee Sport and my left side driving lights went out. Everything from the rear driving light to the front and left side marker light. Put all new bulbs in and nothing. My mechanic wants $ 70.00 per hour to try to figure it out for state inspection. Can someone please help ???
thanks,
George

Sounds like either a short in the power line going into to it all, or the ground on that side. Don't quote me though, I usually suck at wiring, but for the entire side to go out, I'd look around there....

Check what Bowtie suggested and them look into the headlight switch.
This is a new one on me.

Bowtie guy is smarter than he gives himself credit for. I had this same problem with my son's 87 Renix XJ. You have a bad ground wire right there behind the light assembly. Gently remove the turn signal light and side marker light fixtures and the (I'm betting 6 tons of electrical tape) you will find a broken, chaffed or dirty ground. I gurantee you.

I didnt see anyone mention checking the fuses. Might be something that is a "no duh" type thing, but sometimes it is over looked. Check the fuse box for the running light fuse. It might be the box inside the jeep or the one in the engine compartment, I havnt done one in a jeep yet. If the same one keeps blowing then you know you have a short somewhere.

Paperman....I just re-read your issue. Since it is front marker, parking and REAR parking light out on LEFT side ONLY. It has to be the hot wire shorted or a bad ground for your left turn signal. That is the only thing that could effect just the lights specified and no others.

NO fix FOR DRIVIVG LIGHTS
Is their a fuse for the left side driving lights ???? I found a blown 25 amp. in the top left side of the inside box. I put in a new one and nothing. I tried checking all the circuits and cant figure why the left side turn signals and blinkers still work. Help.

lights
First, I am in Carlisle, PA17015
The headlights and turn signals work front and year.
The driving lights work on the right side, but the driving lights on the left side ( left rear marker which is also the brake light that does work, Left front marker light, and both left front lights that work in the turn signals, same bulbs that do work)
I have traced wires, fuses, etc. to no avail.
I just had a new set of tires ( Firestone Blizzard 235-75-15) for inspection, so this is gonna hold me up to get it inspected.
It runs good ,but they did say that down the road I have a bad front U joint on the right side. Ho hard is this to change. Would this give you a thumping sound in 4wd ???
Thanks all , you are great
